One my absolute favorite way to get produce is U pick farms. Nothing can compare the happiness it gives picking your own food in nature! As a kid, I waited for winter season to go on a field trip and pick bor/ber (Indian plum) from our school farm. U pick farms aren’t common in urban cities of India, but when we moved to US, it was one of the outdoor activities which many families did. When I got to know about it, fond school memories stirred up my soul. Apple picking in fall has been our ritual since quite a while, but I’ve never had a chance to do any blueberry picking yet. When I got to know about the organic blueberries near Jacksonville, it was a dream come true!
Blueberry picking at Deep Spring Farm Florida is my new favorite outdoor activity to do in spring and summer. The farm is an extremely gorgeous property with wonderful owners and delicious organic blueberries.
Deep Spring Farm also conducts the yoga event during the summer where you can enjoy yoga among the nature and pick your blueberries before or after the class. You need to be there really early as it gets too hot during noon. They provide you with cans to pick the berries and ziplocs to carry them back. Try to bring a cooler or some place to store them so you don’t squish them. We usually get fruits from Costco in bulk but I have never ever tasted berries like these. They are a perfect snack.
See you next year for blueberry picking 🙂
